About President Granados
Patricia Granados was appointed president of Triton College in July of 2001. Granados came to Triton in 1984 as the director of Nuevos Horizontes, Triton’s Community Center in Melrose Park. Additionally, Granados served as vice president of Academic Affairs and Student Services, associate vice president of Academic Affairs and Student Services, assistant dean of Adult Basic Education and an instructor in Triton’s Adult Basic Education and Triton Junior Programs.
Granados earned her doctoral degree in adult and higher education in May 2004, a master’s degree in education in May 1993 and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish translation and business in May 1983, all from Northern Illinois University.
She is active in a number of organizations, including the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, and currently serves on the American Associate of Community Colleges Board of Directors (2010-2013) where she previously chaired the Commission on Diversity (2010-2011), Westlake Hospital Board of Trustees (2010-), National Community College Hispanic Council Board of Directors (2010-2015) and the Northern Illinois University Alumni Board where she chaired the Scholarship Committee (2008-2012).
Granados' professional background includes prior service as a member of the College Board's Community College Advisory Panel (2004-2007), the American Council on Education's Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness Commission (2004-2007), the Women's Leadership Advisory Council of the Moser College of Adult and Professional Studies at Benedictine University, and Proyecto Communidad at National Louis University. She also is a former member of Women in Higher Education and the National Council of Instructional Administrators.
Granados previously served as a visiting scholar at both the University of Texas at Austin Community College Leadership Program and Northern Illinois University. She has presented at the St. Louis Community College Chancellor's Leadership Academy in 2010, and at the Dare to Dream Conference sponsored by the American Association of University Women in 2009 and 2010. She has been the subject of articles in Diverse Education, Changing a Culture: Dr. Patricia Granados, November 2006, Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, Leadership/Role Models: Patricia Granados - Lifelong Learner, May 2007, and Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, Patricia Grandos, President, Triton College: A Passion for Leadership, November 2010. She received the Chair Academy 2003 Regional Leadership Award for the development of the Training Technology Center, Teaching & Learning Center, and Leadership Through Service Institute, the Leadership & Career Advancement Award from AAWCC, and a Multicultural Awareness & Education Award from Peer Multicultural Educators at Jane Addams MS. The Girl Scouts Illinois Crossroads Council named Granados a 2004 Community Woman of Achievement, and she was inducted into the Proviso High School Wall of Fame that same year.
