Wrestling Places Two at Flash Flanagan Open

The Triton wrestling team held their own at the "Flash" Flanagan Open Jan. 12 at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Triton was just one of two community colleges in a field that saw wrestlers representing 8 NCAA Division I schools competing. Denzel King placed 4th at 125 and Nikko Liotta took 6th at 197. The Trojans are back in action Sat. Jan. 19 at the Al Hanke Invitational hosted by Elmhurst College.

About : Earned All-American status this week-end at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships in Rochester, MN! Jose went 4-2 over the two-day tournament and placed fourth.  Jose was also named to the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association, Academic All-American team for the second straight year.

This past weekend Triton traveled to Dubuque, Iowa and Loras College.  This is one of the toughest tournaments we have ever wrestled in as there were many Big Ten teams in attendance! We had two place-winners, Denzel King, 125, fourth and Nikko Liotta, 133, sixth place.

Teams that participated were; Loras College, Northern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin, Purdue University, University of Illinois, Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, Luther College, Upper Iowa University, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Cornell College, Waldorf College, Waubonsee Community College and Triton College
