Our advisors provide pre-registration advisement; drop/add counseling, referrals for tutoring and other areas, assistance in selecting a major, and assistance in developing realistic schedules and course loads.
Personal and Career Mentoring
Advisors and mentors are available to help you understand and cope with the challenges students face in college. They help participants transition to college; assist in major and career selection; and provide assistance in identifying opportunities and resources that will enhance student experiences.
Tutoring and Study Tables
All TRiO students are encouraged to use our free in-person tutoring services as well as utilizing SmartThinking, an online tutoring program located on your student portal. Study Tables will also be facilitated throughout the semester. Contact your mentor or advisor if you would like to set up a study table or want to reserve a private room for you or a group to study.
We assist students in researching four-year institutions and support students through the application and selection process by providing college visits and collaborating with four year institutions. Once students graduate, we help them transition into their new college environment by providing mentoring and advising.
Academic, Career and Financial Workshops
Throughout the semester, workshops are offered to enhance the academic and personal growth of students in the program. These workshops may include financial aid, financial literacy, time management, study skills, and test-taking skills strategies.
Financial Aid Advisement
Our staff can assist in completing financial aid and scholarship applications; and determine and share resources.
Cultural and Educational Activities
Student Support Services assists students in exploring the world beyond classroom walls by arranging excursions to cultural and educational events.
Referrals to Other Campus Resources
We also assist in identifying additional campus resources that assist in our students' success.
