Triton College named #4 safest college campus in Illinois by StateUniversity.com

River Grove, Ill. – Triton College’s highly experienced campus police dedicated to the safety of the campus and its students, faculty and staff have garnered Triton the recognition of being named the fourth safest college campus in Illinois by StateUniversity.com.
StateUniversity.com, one of internet’s leading websites for college information, has released its second annual list of the safest colleges and universities in the United States. The safety ratings are based on campus crime statistics, including aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, theft/larceny, motor vehicle theft, forcible rape and murder on campus, as reported by 450 colleges and universities nationwide. Ratings are calculated using the number and type of campus crime reported during the calendar year.
Triton College was named the fourth safest college campus in Illinois, after Benedictine University, Moraine Valley Community College and Lake Land College. Triton is up from last year’s seventh place.
Campus safety is a vital and natural concern of current and prospective college students and the parents of those students. Triton College holds the safety of its students, faculty and staff in its highest regards through installation of emergency alert stations around campus, maintaining well-lit parking lots and educating Triton employees on how to handle a crisis management situation. Also, the Triton College Police Department is commissioned with full police powers pursuant to the Illinois Compiled Statues and is accessible 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
