A Message from our Chairman:

“A history of success, a vision for the future”

Three quarters of a million students have attended Triton College over the past 50 years. Triton has played a role in the success of countless leaders in the fields of business, health care, science, technology, manufacturing, government and social services. The year 2014 marks the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Triton College and 50 years of meeting the diverse educational needs of our district residents.

“A history of success, a vision for the future”

Along with our traditional college course offerings, Triton College has developed diverse programs and opportunities for our district residents over the past 50 years, including the Early Childhood Education Center; the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, which gives our senior citizens the opportunity to provide a broad range of valuable assistance to district residents and organizations; the Cernan Earth and Space Center, which has welcomed over 1.75 million visitors since its 1974 opening; the Triton Troupers Circus; and countless other Triton College facilities and resources utilized by our district residents.

“A history of success, a vision for the future”

In addition to our accomplishments in the classroom and in our various programs, Triton College has enjoyed success in athletic endeavors as well. We have developed 216 National Junior College All-American athletes in various sports. Triton College has also had 15 Junior College National Champions in wrestling and 12 Junior College National Champions in swimming. Finally, 89 Triton College baseball players have gone on to play Major League Baseball, including Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett.

“A history of success, a vision for the future”

From our humble beginnings at West Leyden High School in Northlake to our 101-acre campus in River Grove, Triton College continues to evolve to meet the needs of our district residents. Our yearlong celebration of 50 years of service to the community begins with our 50th Anniversary Kickoff on Aug. 28, 2014, and I hope to see you there. Our 50th Anniversary webpage available through the Triton College website will provide you with all the details. I invite you to join us in the many activities we have planned throughout the year and encourage you to share your Triton story through this website.

We look forward to sharing our 50th Anniversary celebration with you and to seeing you at one or all of our many upcoming 50th Anniversary celebration events.

Sincerely,

Mark R. Stephens
Chairman
