Triton College’s Continuing Education Department is offering a new series of seminars designed to develop your entrepreneurial skills. This series is a must for anyone contemplating starting or buying a business. Topics will include everything from the basics of assessing your readiness to specific issues in planning, financing, marketing, sales, hiring, and customer service.
The certificate consists of the following classes:
Management Development – BSNE96
Learn the skills and techniques of successful managers and discuss motivation, communication, decision making, group dynamics and leadership.
Marketing Research for Small Business - BSNE62
What is market research? How do you get started? Where do you go for good, solid information? These questions and more are addressed in a session geared to the entrepreneur on a budget. Learn how to develop a marketing plan for starting up and beyond.
Practical Business Planning – BSNE66
To be among the 20 percent of small businesses that successfully survive their first five years, you need practical knowledge of planning, finances, marketing and advertising. This seminar will provide guidelines in those area as well as techniques for writing the type of business plan which will appeal to potential investors.
Hiring and Firing – BSNE44
You will have the responsibility for hiring and firing within your business. Learn the guidelines which make you more effective in this role. Learn to evaluate potential employees so you can select the best. Identify valid criteria for disciplinary actions to minimize your legal exposure.
Customer Service and Sales – BSNE68
Understand why people buy and techniques you can use to keep them coming back. Learn the sales process from listening to the customer to answering customer objections and making the final sales pitch in order to close the deal. This session also includes instruction on how to select and train an outstanding sales staff.
Small Business Financing – BSNE63
Show me the money! This seminar covers methods used to determine financial needs, assessing personal finances, types of financing, sources of capital, types of loans, potential lenders, development of a loan package and the bank evaluation of applications.
