The Access to Literacy Program is designed for adults who wish to learn, read or develop their reading/writing skills. Four different types of instruction are offered:
• One-on-one tutoring
• Small-group sessions
• Weekly classes
• Computer lab with independent study program.
All services are free. Three levels of literacy classes are offered. All one-on-one and small-group tutoring is done by trained volunteer tutors who are required to complete 12 hours of literacy instruction at Triton. In addition to the initial training, tutors are encouraged to attend a two-hour in-service training session offered every two months throughout the year.
Would you like to be a part of this rewarding opportunity by serving those who need the most? Be a volunteer tutor for the Access to Literacy Program. To reserve a space at a tutor training session or for more information, call (708) 456-0300, Ext. 33730.
