Pamela Polvere, 1978 Triton graduate, Associate of Arts, Award-winning kitchen designer of Oak Park cooks up innovative designs with own business  

JOB:

Certified Kitchen Designer

VITALS:

I graduated from Triton then went on to Harrington Institute of Interior Design. I received a Bachelor of Interior Design in 1984. I currently run my own business and showroom – Pamela Polvere Designs, in Elmwood Park.

ACCOLADES:

I received many National Kitchen and Bath design contest awards, and was also awarded Best of Show in 2009. Some of my work has been published in “Chicago Home & Garden,” “This Old House” and “Women’s Day Kitchens & Baths.” Plus, a kitchen I designed with an aquarium was featured on the HGTV show “New Spaces.”

STRONG SUIT:

One of my best qualities is being loyal.

OBSTACLES:

Paying my own way through college and having to work three part-time jobs at once to help pay back my student loans. 

INSPIRATION:

Mid Century Modern and Frank Lloyd Wright have been inspirations to me. 

HOW DID TRITON IMPACT YOUR LIFE?

Triton gave me much needed time to complete basic classes while deciding on a career path.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE A CAREER IN YOUR PROFESSION?

You need not only to be artistic; you need to be good at math as well.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

I love to watch reality TV.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?

I hope to work as long as I can in my field.
