EMS 121◊ Emergency Medical Responder

Designed to provide the student with the core knowledge, skills and attitudes to function in a first responder capacity prior to the arrival of an ambulance. Students will learn airway management; control of bleeding; splinting; oxygen therapy, extrication; and medical, environmental and other emergencies. Students who successfully complete the requirements of this course will become eligible for licensure as a first responder with the Illinois Department of Public Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division. A minimum grade of a B is required for licensure.
