CHS C03 Polish Culture & Arts

 Polish arts combine Polish influence with aspects of other nearby European cultures and periods in European history. Participants will learn about “wycinanki,” a popular folk craft originating from the mid 1800s, which includes cutting, punching and carving paper. “Pisanki,” an ornate style of decorating Easter eggs, dating back to the 10th century will be discussed. Polish dance, such as the Polonaise and the Mazurka will be reviewed as well as traditional folk music.
