Triton men's soccer player takes National Player of the Week honors

Triton College men's soccer player Brian Tapia was named National Junior College Athletic Assocoiation (NJCAA) Division III Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 17-23.

The freshman out of Morton High School recorded a pair of game winning goals in leading the Trojans to road wins Sept. 19 at Milwaukee Tech and Sept. 22 over Dominican University's JV squad.  Against Milwaukee Tech, Tapia recorded a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win. In a 3-2 victory over Dominican, Tapia scored two goals on five shots and tallied an assist for five points in the match.

"Brian was involved in all of our goals during that week in the two games we played and with him coming back from an MCL injury to have a week like that is quite impressive and he is deserving of being national player of the week," said first year Triton head coach Piotr Sliwa.

In Triton's most recent match in River Grove (Sept. 26) vs. Harper, Tapia had the assist on the Trojans game winning goal with 15 minutes left in a 3-2 win over the Hawks. The victory was Triton's seventh in-a-row as the Trojans have their eyes set on securing the top seed in the upcoming Region IV Tournament later this month.
