Triton men’s soccer team wins third straight title

The Triton College men’s soccer team continued their dominance of the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) after concluding the regular season with 3-0 blanking of Milwaukee Tech on Oct. 10 in River Grove. The victory was the 10th in-a-row for the Trojans and in the process claimed their third consecutive N4C crown.

Now Triton has their eyes set on the postseason and an unprecedented fifth straight region title as the Trojans earned the top seed in the Region IV Division III Tournament. Triton will play either Milwaukee Tech or Madison College on Saturday, Oct. 20. The match will be held at Dominican University in River Forest starting at noon.

However, the Trojans put a close to a solid regular season campaign with a big second half in their win over the Stormers. Triton All-American candidate Gewargis Samuel (Mather) put Triton on the board in the 57th minute. Samuel would later assist on the second of two goals scored by conference MVP Fernando Calderon (Schurz). All-conference selection Brian Tapia (Morton) assisted on Calderon’s first tally in the 68th minute to give the Trojans a 2-0 advantage.

All-conference goalkeeper Mateusz Nosek (Steinmetz) recorded the shut-out, stopping seven Milwaukee Tech shots fired at him.

If the Trojans win their playoff game on Oct. 20, they will play for the Region IV championship, Wednesday, Oct. 24 against either Joliet or Harper. The game would be played at 3 p.m. at the Schwaben Athletic Club located in Buffalo Grove, on Weiland Road just north of Lake Cook Road.
