Triton basketball players earn Region IV Player of the Week honors

Thanksgiving week was indeed a thankful one for both the Triton College men's and women's basketball squads as each team recorded victories and had outstanding individual performances to sweep the Region IV Player of the Week selections on both the men's and women's sides.

Ajetta Banks was named women's District D Player of the Week for her 23-point outburst to lead the Lady Trojans in a 74-52 win at Olive-Harvey College on Nov. 20. The freshman from Crane High School shot 10-of-17 from the field. Banks also grabbed 10 rebounds, had five assists and three steals.

Darrius Golston took home men's District A Player of the Week for his 40-point, five-assist display on Nov. 24 at Lansing Community College. The sophomore from Bogan High School was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range in sparking the Trojans en route to a 100-91 victory. The win was Triton's third in a row to improve to 5-3.

Both the Triton men's and women's basketball teams look to keep the momentum going this Thursday (Nov. 29) when they host Oakton Community College at the Robert M. Collins Center gymnasium located on the east side of the Triton campus. The women tip-off at 5 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
