Executive Series hosts guest speakers on April 17

Triton College's School of Business presents its next Executive Series on Thursday, April 17, with guest speakers James V. Pieper and James E. Parisi of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group.

At CME, Pieper serves as the managing director and chief accounting officer and Parisi is the chief financial office and senior managing director of Finance and Corporate Development. The two speakers will present on what CME is and the importance of it to the financial markets of the world, as well as provide details on their own career paths and the CME internship program.

The event will run from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, in Room B-130 of the Student Center (B Building).

The Executive Series is intended to inspire and encourage individuals to think about academic and career paths that can help prepare them to compete in the global workforce through inspiring guest speakers working in the business industry.

James E. Parisi has served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Managing Director, Finance & Corporate Development of CME Group since February 2010.  His responsibilities include oversight of the company’s Finance, Accounting, Business Development, Strategy, Investor Relations, Treasury, Real Estate and Procurement Departments

Previously, he served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of CME Group since July 2007 and as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of CME Holdings and CME since October 2004. 

Parisi has played a leadership role in the completion of more than $20 billion in mergers and acquisitions, including CME’s historic acquisitions of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in 2007 and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in 2008, as well as the company’s strategic investment in Dow Jones Indexes and global investments in Brazil, Malaysia and Mexico.  His team also has placed more than $4 billion of debt financing, both in the public and bank markets, and overseen a $3 billion tender offer for CME Group shares as well as open market share repurchases.   

Since joining the company in 1988, Parisi has served in several leadership positions in the company’s Finance Division & Corporate Development Division.  In these various roles he was responsible for the company’s capital structure, cash management, investments, insurance program, real estate transactions, five-year financial plan and profitability analyses for both internal and external business opportunities.  Before joining the company, Parisi worked for Arthur Andersen LLP. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois, summa cum laude, and an MBA degree with a concentration in finance from the University of Chicago, cum laude.


James V. Pieper serves as Managing Director and Chief Accounting Officer of CME Group. He is responsible for managing financial reporting for CME Group Inc. and various affiliates in accordance with accounting principles, federal requirements and established policies.  He is also responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the company’s internal controls. Previously, Pieper served as Director and Controller and as Associate Director and Assistant Controller. 

Before joining the company in 2004, he worked for Divine, Inc. as Director of Worldwide Accounting.  His background also includes public accounting experience with KPMG LLP.

Pieper received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and a MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
