    "Touch the Sky" -- Telescope Training Materials


    This page contains the same training materials that will be distributed at our "Touch the Sky" telescope training sessions. They are available for download in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. 


    Telescope Training Manual -- all the basic information you'll need to use your telescope is contained in this document, including a welcome letter, a primer on the Orion XT6 telescope, an introduction to the many celestial objects that can be observed with this telescope, the "do's" and "don'ts" of its operation, online resources to keep abreast of the current sky, a teacher resource page, and a lab activity worksheet. 

    Quick Reference Page -- provides a quick, two-page reminder of how to set up and take down the Orion XT6 telescope. Also included in this document is the survey that we ask participating groups to complete after their telescope loan has ended. 

    Telescope Loan Agreement -- the loan agreement form (which must be signed by all participants) and a check list of all components in the telescope loan package. NOTE: These pages are formatted for 8 1/2" x 14" paper. 

    Orion Telescope Owner's Manual -- the owner's manual from Orion, the manufacturer of the XT6 telescope. An optional document to most participants, this manual can be used for additional (and slightly more advanced) reading on telescope assembly, maintenance, optimization, and usage.
