Triton makes every effort to provide a bicycle-friendly campus. Not only are cyclists welcomed, but our police department has a bicycle patrol in summer. There is also a bicycle plan, designed to help improve on-campus bike circulation.
Multiple bike racks are conveniently located near buildings. The pavilion offers a sheltered location for bike parking. Showers in the R-Building are available to anyone enrolled in a fitness class. Our bicycle advisory committee helps plan and implement bike-related events, co-sponsored by the Office of Student Life and the Sustainability Center.
CB2CC is a consortium of twelve universities, colleges and community colleges. The coalition’s mission is “to promote cycling as a fun, healthy, and sustainable mode of transit on (and between) our campuses, in our communities and in the region. We encourage everyone to learn about being smart and safe while cycling.”
The coalition sponsors Chicagoland Bike2Campus Week, a biking competition among schools, and on-campus one-day biking events. At Triton, our on-campus Bike2Campus Day each semester is well-attended, fun event, with bike-related activities, prizes and giveaways.
