    Council Member
    Class of 1984

Ms. Borowiak recently retired from teaching full-time in the Graphic Arts Technology program at College of DuPage, but her background is more varied than teaching. While attending classes at Triton full time at age 17, she also worked at Jewel Food Store doing keyline/paste-up for their newspaper ads, alongside working as a student worker in Triton's Graphics department.

"My first computer experience occurred when I was being trained on Jewel's typesetting equipment. After that, I was hooked!” she said. "Making an ad come to life, from concept to production, was great fun. I was also taking Advertising Art at Triton College to explore Graphics as a full-time career."

She was the Advertising Director for Plunkett Furniture, the Art Director for ElekTek and the Publications Manager of Triton College’s Publications and Graphics department. During her time in the latter position, she also taught part-time drawing classes, eventually teaching credit computer classes at Triton.

Her part-time teaching expanded beyond Triton to Elmhurst College, Wright College and College of DuPage, where she eventually was hired as a full-time Professor in 2001.

"After taking my classes, I know that my students have a solid knowledge of Graphic Arts software, as well as the inner confidence that they can produce efficient files in the field," she said. "It's fulfilling to teach skills that will get people jobs in the Graphics industry."

As with many teachers, Ms. Borowiak draws inspiration from her students. "I’m always amazed by my student's work ethic, many of whom work full-time and somehow squeeze in time to take Graphic Art classes."
