Veterans Student Enrollment Checklist
Step 1: Apply for Admission to Triton College
Three options:
1. Online at
www.triton.edu/application
.
2. In person at the Welcome Center, Student Center, Room B100.
3. Call the Admission Call Center at (708) 456-0300 Ext. 3130.
Step 2: Take the Placement Tests
Assessment Services, Student Center, Room B111
The placement tests cover English, reading, and math. Provide a picture ID to take test. Test review is available at
www.triton.edu/placementtesting
. Students may be exempt from all or partial testing based on prior college credit and/or eligible ACT scores. For information about placement tests, please contact Assessment Services at (708) 456-0300 Ext. 3602.
Step 3: Attend An Orientation Session

Step 4: Meet with a Counselor

Step 5: Apply For Veterans' Educational Benefits & Financial Aid

Please reference the
Financial Aid Veteran’s Information
website. Choose the program(s) that you may be eligible for and follow the steps to apply as listed. If seeking additional financial aid, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit

for information and instructions.
Step 6: Register for Classes

Step 7: Request Official Transcripts
Admissions & Records, Student Center, Room B216E
Have official transcripts from previous institutions sent to the Triton College Admission and Records Office, 2000 Fifth Ave River Grove, IL 60171. Complete a General Petition Form requesting an evaluation for transfer credit. This form is available on the Student Portal under “eforms” or in person at the Welcome Center in the Student Center, Room B100. For a more detailed description of the transfer credit process, please see the “Transfer Credit Evaluation Procedure” handout available at B216E.

Triton Veterans Networking Group
Credit for Military Service
Triton College awards credit for military training deemed equal to specific courses in a program of study. This may include hours awarded for the completion of basic training. To obtain this credit, veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 to the Admission and Records Office along with a General Petition Form to request an evaluation (available at the Welcome Desk, Student Center, B-100). It takes approximately three weeks for the evaluation process to be completed.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Bldg. B, B111
CLEP is the accepted credit-by-exam program. Each 90-minute exam allows you to demonstrate your knowledge in many subjects. Register in person in the Testing Center (708) 456-0300 Ext, 3450.
