Triton College Annuitants Association
Call to Action Alert!
From what we are hearing, both chambers will be asked to vote on the contents of such a bill on Tuesday Dec 3, 2013. Analysis of the contents and determination of financial impact on state workers and projected savings will be next to impossible in that very short time frame.
At this point, it is clear that the immediate savings for the state will be gained by reducing the COLA of retired state workers from an annual compounded increase of 3% to a simple 3% on $1000 for each year you worked. With the possibility of a decreased COLA and for many other changes in health care costs in July, the financial impact on retirees will be devastating! Your pension may not be able to keep up with increases in your annual living expenses. This proposed bill also negatively impacts active workers and will have long term implications for the successful recruitment of bright, talented young professionals to our university and community college systems.
Make it personal!! Talk with your elected leaders about your concern for your financial security. Share with them how the implementation of these changes will impact you and your loved ones!
WRITE OR CALL MONDAY Dec 2!! TUESDAY WILL BE TOO LATE!!
