Department of Continuing Education E N C O R E ENCORE – Careers after 50 As the baby boomers begin to shift into a new phase of life, many are looking at redefining the idea of traditional retirement. Interested in social purpose and trying something new, they do not view traditional retirement as withdrawal from the nation’s workforce but rather a redirection of their time and talents to paid positions focused on societal change and community service. Through the ENCORE program, Continuing Education is ready to assist anyone who is interested in transitioning into new careers or new purposes. Individuals interested in working with a career/life planning counselor may access a comprehensive career assessment program called Choices. Assessment instruments provide an in-depth examination of personality, interests, work style preferences, skills and values, and assistance is provided to interpret results and develop individualized plans. These may include completing an educational program or improving skills needed to get a desired job.
