Beginning Piano and Violin for Young People:
Tempo
Learn correct keyboard and string techniques, reading
music and improvisation in this beginning piano and

Kid’s Painting: The Artist’s Workshop!
Whether you’re just a beginner or a budding Van Gogh,
capture the colors of the outdoors through the brilliance of
paints. Starting with the basics of color mixing, you’ll learn
the principles of form, structure and composition, as well as
brush and other tool techniques. Then you’ll take to the
“canvas” and create your very own work of art. By learning
how to match different techniques and materials with different
color combinations, you’ll be able to create paintings
that look more professional. Whether you like painting
mountain scenes or the street you live on, learn to turn your
visions into art. One thing’s for sure, it will be your very
own one-of-a-kind work of art! Bravo! Instructor will ask

Bowling With Clay—Ceramics I for Kids
Move over mudpies. Put away the Playdough. Now you can
create objects using techniques passed on from ancient civilizations.
Practice different ways to mold clay from simply
using your thumb, to stacking coils. You also will learn
about different kinds of clays, decorative glazing techniques
and firing or baking your creations. Learn to give shape,
form and design to a “hunk” of clay with your very own
hands! Instructor will ask you to bring some materials from

Beginning Mandarin Chinese for Children and

Chinese language and culture together in this educational

Writing in Chinese for Children and Parents
You can learn to write and interpret Chinese characters. In
its use of symbols, as opposed to the Western alphabet style,
Chinese writing remains a beautiful and meaningful calligraphic
art form. You will learn how Chinese characters
are composed of simple single strokes to create both the
simple and complex symbols. Registration is for one child

Children’s Competitive Swim Instruction
Are you interested in the Northern Illinois Swim
Conference and U.S. Swimming? Join the Triton
Competitive Swim Team. You’ll learn competitive
strokes and compete in eight meets over the 18- week
season-September to March. You should be able to swim
one lap (25 yards) without stopping and must register
prior to the first class meeting. Join the team for 5-11

Storytelling for Children
Storytelling can help improve academic performance by
teaching students how to actively present and focus their
listening and reacting, enhancing the vital skills of communication.
Students who learn how to tell stories well
can transfer that skill to becoming good writers, good
public speakers, enthusiastic readers, and more confident
individuals. This course will teach students the power of
the spoken word, the importance of listening, and the
development of memory and vocabulary.

Fashion Design I
This course incorporates skills and techniques developed
in Fashion Illustration I into subject-specific assignments
targeted to address each student’s area of interest.
Students design a collection in an area of their choice that
demonstrates the mastery of both technical and aesthetic
skills. Projects will include production of technical flat
drawings of garments, and textile pattern design and
application. Students examine fashion design within the
context of fine art forms and practical commercial
design. Mass market, haute couture (high fashion) and
lifestyle accessory design, as well as social, historic and
aesthetic influences on fashion design are studied.
(Recommended for students, ages 14-18.) Prerequisite:
MKT E02, Fashion Illustration or comparable background.
