Project Management is an essential skill for individuals looking to compete and succeed in today’s market. Once limited to project management professionals, these skills and credentials are becoming essential tools for individuals in a wide variety of industries.
The Project Management courses at Triton College are designed to give you an understanding of what is necessary to plan projects effectively and work efficiently while accounting for resources, time and cost constraints, and risk. The skills learned apply to both small and large projects in a wide range of industries. Many of our project management courses apply toward professional development units (PDU) for the Project Management Institute, and a mixture of in-class and online courses provide added convenience.
TEC E61 001 - Project Management Fundamentals Certificate Program(CAPM©)

This three day course provides a detailed examination of the fundamental processes of project management. Using lectures, case studies, discussions and individual and group exercises, participants will learn how to apply a 5-Phase approach to projects, determine how to meet customer/client needs, and focus on planning, tracking and control techniques. Participants will apply project management tools such as Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS), estimating, networking, Gantt charts and risk assessment to an in-class project. This course is taught by a PMI Registered Education Provider.
At the end of this seminar participants will be able to:
- Describe what it takes to manage projects successfully
- Define project management terms and concepts, creating a common language
- Describe a typical life cycle of a project and how the various processes work within that life cycle
- Present the five project management processes
- Identify project roles and responsibilities
- Recognize the importance of communication and negotiation to successful project management
- Improve management of stakeholder
expectations
- Enable participants to work more effectively on project teams and understand their needs and motivation
- Clarify project charter, objective, scope and requirements
- Create a realistic project schedule
- Identify and manage project risk

- Define of the primary terms and concepts that make up Project Integration Management, the first Project Management Knowledge Area.
