Triton College's Adult Basic Education and Nuevos Horizontes provide a comprehensive ESL program to help you reach your goals. Many of these courses, programs and services are free or inexpensive.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program includes computer instruction for further English practice. Our class schedules are varied enough to fit your busy lifestyle. For your convenience, many of the classes and support services are located throughout the Triton community.
Fall and Spring Semesters
The ESL Program consists of six different levels, one beginning level and levels one to five. Each course includes the study of the four communication skills: reading, writing, conversation and listening. All ESL classes meet three days a week, three hours each day, in the morning or evening for 15 weeks. A final examination is given in the 16th week.
Miniterm–Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters
Miniterm classes are designed to give you extra practice in more specific communication skills, such as conversation, grammar and writing. They begin eight weeks after the start of the fall and spring semesters and the first week in June for the summer. Classes meet twice a week in the morning or evening for two hours, for a total of eight weeks.
These classes allow new students to begin their English studies without having to wait a complete semester. They also allow currently enrolled students to further develop specific skills.
