Aircraft Maintenance

Aircraft maintenance is a vital component within the aviation industry and this program is for anyone who enjoys working on sophisticated aircraft. This program prepares graduates as future Airframe and Powerplant technicians. Students learn about the structural, electrical, hydraulic, environmental and powerplant systems on many types of aircraft. Upon successful completion of the program, students will have the opportunity to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral and precital certfication examination.

This program requires students to complete their general education requirements at Triton College before transferring to FAA certified program within Illinois. Currently, Triton College has an articulation with Lewis University in which a student can finish a two-year and four-year degree.

Employment can be found with the federal government air transportation companies and aerospace product and parts manufacturing. The median annual salary for aircraft mechanics and service technicians was $47,700 in 2006.
