Division of Career Education
Horticulture

The Horticulture (HRT) Program aims to provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary for pursuing an advanced degree, for personal development, and for gainful employment in the many diverse areas of the horticulture and green industry Our horticulture facilities include up-to-date classrooms, two greenhouses, a botanical garden and a retail flower shop. All facilities are designed to provide hands-on practical experiences for the horticulture student.

We offer both an AAS degree in horticulture, transferable to four-year institutions, and three different certificate programs. Our program aims to provide the student with hands-on experiences in grounds maintenance, greenhouse operations, landscape design, and floral shop operations. With the recent popularity of gardening, home decorating and landscaping, our program can also provide the homeowner and hobby horticulturist with many valuable experiences and assistance for home use.

Employment trends indicate a renewed surge in gardening and landscape-related career opportunities. Statistics indicate several job openings for each college graduate. In addition, our program can assist those currently employed in the industry the opportunity for advanced training and possible advancement on the job ladder.
