Keeping people comfortable at work or at home is the number one goal of air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. Today's sophisticated residential, commercial and industrial systems are made of many mechanical, electrical and electronic devises, including motors, compressors, pumps, fans, duct, pipes, thermostats and switches. Technicians must be able to maintain, diagnose and correct problems throughout the system.
Triton's Air Conditioning and Refrigeration curriculum provides theory and laboratory experience designed to prepare graduates for employment in this field. Students are trained for competency in installing, operating and maintaining all types of environmental-control equipment and green technologies. The industry is rapidly growing in all sections of the country.
Graduates will be able to find employment in a large or small contracting company or directly for a manufacturer or wholesaler or transfer to a four-year institution to complete a degree. Those who work for a smaller company may do both installation and servicing while those working for larger corporations may specialize in an area. Air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technicians who work full-time earn almost $38,000 a year.
