Learning Resource Center Materials and Collections
The Triton College Library maintains a collection of print and non-print resources to support the college curriculum. The collection includes more than 79,000 books and other materials, 440 current periodical subscriptions and numerous print and electronic indexes to journal articles.
Triton faculty are encouraged to recommend additions to the collection in their teaching areas. Students also may make recommendations. Recommendations will be ordered if they meet the selection guidelines and if funding permits. Please click on the Recommendation form link to electronically submit a recommendation for the Library's collection.
CIRCULATING BOOKS Triton's collection of circulating books is available through I-Share. I-Share lets the user search for materials in Triton's collection and at 76 other academic institutions throughout Illinois. Books found at other libraries may be requested and sent directly to Triton or students may use their Triton I.D. to check books out at other schools in person.
PERIODICALS Triton subscribes to approximately 440 periodicals, including magazines, journals and newspapers. The current issues are on display in the northeast section of the main floor in the Learning Resource Center. Back issues are housed in a closed stack area and can be requested at the Periodicals counter. A list of our titles and a union list of the holdings of local libraries are kept at the Periodicals and Reference desks. Periodicals do not circulate, but copy machines and microfilm reader/printers are nearby. Reference librarians can help students determine the availability of specific titles.
INDEXES TO ARTICLES Students have several options when looking for articles on a particular subject. Print indexes are available in the Periodicals area and many electronic resources, including indexes and online full text, are available through the library Web site. A list of abstracts and indexes and a subject list of periodical titles can be found in the booklet, Triton College Library / Learning Resource Center Periodical Holdings, available at the Reference Desk and the Periodicals Desk.
