Hello! I teach in the Engineering Technology program here
@ Triton College.
The Triton College Engineering Technology Program offers a
comprehensive series of courses that can lead you to one of two associate's degrees
and/or one of four certificate options.
The degree options provide you with a working knowledge of CAD and basic design
principles involved in the construction of various products, from packaging/marketing displays to production
machines.
The Engineering Technology program at Triton College is designed for people seeking a career in a variety of fields that use some or more of the skill sets covered in our program.
The skill sets: 2D & 3D Modeling using several differeint CAD products (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, Pro/E, Solidedge, UG), rendering & presentation of 3D models for use as .jpg/.bmp images to be used in various marketing/instructional materials (ex: specification manuals, sales brochures), and basic design concepts (Materials & Processes, Machine Design, Injection Mold Design, Sheet Metal Design, etc.).
Upon completion of one of the degree options, you will be able to seek
employment in an entry-level position within an engineering department for
companies that produce diverse products or in a design-drafting shop.
Also, courses within the degree options do fulfill general education courses
that are transferable to schools offering four-year degrees in an
engineering/manufacturing technology program.
One of the certificate options may be for you if you are already working in the
engineering field and want to add to or upgrade your skills. Only one
certificate, the Engineering Technology/Drafting Certificate, is designed for
people with little or no experience in the field who want to
"jump-start" their career in engineering technology.
Note: Certificate programs include course work contained within the
degree programs. You can acquire a certificate in a specialized area while
working on your associate's degree.
