Public health officials are suggesting that college students, faculty, and staff could become ill with H1N1 flu during this academic year. Triton College is working closely with the local, state, and national public health officials to monitor flu conditions and make decisions about the best steps to take concerning our institution. We will keep you updated with new information as it becomes available.
For now we are doing everything we can to ensure our institution is functioning as usual. The campus is open and operational.
We are asking all students, employees and visitors to our campus to please follow the CDC guidelines to stay healthy:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing and sneezing.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue in the trash.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Avoid close contact with sick people.
- Influenza is spread mainly through person-to-person contact by coughing or sneezing. Germs can spread by touching contaminated surfaces.
- The CDC recommends people who are ill to stay at home from work or school.
In the event there is a spread of the H1N1 flu on our campus or within the region, then additional measures will be taken by the institution.
Our campus Health Services office can provide additional resources you. In addition, our Health Services office is tracking flu related absences that are called into their office. They can be reached at 708-456-0300, ext. 3359.
Watch for e-mail updates and other communications from the college if the condition changes.
