Academic Support Programs
The Academic Support Programs are those areas of the college where students of all academic levels are assisted in successfully completing their programs. They offer direct instruction in college success mathematics, writing and reading, for students who need to begin their academic careers in those courses. Direct instruction also is offered in Literacy, High School Completion (e.g. GED®, HiSET, TASC) and English as a Second Language (ESL) through the Adult Education department.
All students are encouraged to take advantage of the tutoring services offered by this department. Students who are tutored have a much higher success rate than those who are not. Tutoring is provided at no cost to more than 4,000 students each year through the Academic Success Center, the MathPower Headquarters and the Writing Across the Curriculum Center.
