Triton College Campus Community to Celebrate Basketball Teams

All Triton Trojan fans are invited to “Pack the Place” at the Robert M. Collins Center gymnasium on Wednesday, Feb. 12, to celebrate and watch both Triton basketball teams play against Madison College. The women’s team plays at 5 p.m., directly followed by the men’s team at 7 p.m.

This is a special opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to show school spirit by cheering for the Trojan basketball teams along with friends and family. The “Pack the Place” night is hosted by Triton College Athletics and the Triton College Student Association (TCSA). Spectators will receive a free hot dog, popcorn and water while supplies last. There will also be live entertainment, along with contests, prizes and an opportunity to win an Apple Watch.

“This event is for everyone in the Triton community to come out and come together to not only watch great basketball, but join together as one to support our student-athletes,” said Harry McGinnis, Triton College Athletics director.

The women’s team is led by Marques Hatch and this is his third year as the women’s head coach. Last season Hatch led the women to a second-place tie in the North Central Community College Conference. Currently the women have a 18 (wins)-7 (losses) overall game record.

The men’s team is led by Steve Christiansen and this is his 16th season as the men’s head coach.  Christiansen led the men to the school’s first-ever NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2018, and he has 10 N4C Conference championships and five Region IV titles. Under Christiansen’s leadership the men’s team moved up to NJCAA Division I. Currently the men have an 21 (wins)-5 (losses) overall game record.
