Triton College to host 34th Annual Art Kraft Memorial Wrestling Tournament Dec. 13

Triton College will host the 34th Annual Art Kraft Memorial Wrestling Tournament Dec. 13. The event will feature wrestlers from several top NJCAA programs across the country battling for individual titles.
RIVER GROVE, Ill. — Triton College will host its signature wrestling event, the 34th annual Art Kraft Memorial Tournament, on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Jorndt Athletic Complex.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day as wrestlers from several top NJCAA programs across the country compete for individual titles on the Trojan’s home mat.
The tournament is named in honor of the late Triton coach, who guided the Trojans to NJCAA national championships in 1977, 1983 and 1984. Kraft was a three-time NJCAA Coach of the Year during his 18 seasons at Triton from 1967 to 1985. He is also a member of the National Junior College Athlete Association, Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Since its inception more than three decades ago, the Art Kraft Memorial Tournament has become one of the most prestigious wrestling tournaments in the country. This year’s event will feature nearly 200 athletes representing teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.
As well regarded as the tournament is within the NJCAA, it holds special significance for the Triton wrestling team, as it marks the Trojans’ only home event of the season.
Admission to the 34th annual Art Kraft Memorial Tournament is $5. Triton College students and employees who present a Triton ID will be admitted free. The Jorndt Athletic Complex is in the R Building on the east side of campus in Room 200.
