Work by Day, Train by Night: Triton College Launches Evening Barber and Cosmetology Classes in Spring 2026

Triton College is launching evening classes for its Barber and Cosmetology program beginning next semester. Students will learn under Donita Mitchell and Zachary Morris, faculty members with decades of combined experience in the grooming and cosmetology industry.
RIVER GROVE, Ill. — Triton College is pleased to announce that beginning in the spring 2026 semester, it will offer evening classes for its Barber and Cosmetology program.
This initiative aligns with Triton’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to education for its diverse student body, including those balancing professional and family responsibilities. Courses will run on an accelerated eight-week schedule, offering a fast-paced and engaging blend of hands-on learning and classroom instruction that prepares students for rewarding careers helping others look and feel their best.
With these changes, Barber and Cosmetology Faculty Member Donita Mitchell said Triton College will be able to tailor its curriculum to working students while providing expert training inside the program’s recently opened learning facility.
“These adjustments are key to helping our students achieve and maintain a healthy work-life balance,” Mitchell said. “Students won’t have to choose between earning a wage and attending school. You can finish your workday, come to Triton, pick up a pair of scissors, and prepare for a great new career.”
Triton College’s new state-of-the-art lab in Room M-150 (M Building) features 20 salon and barber stations, a wash house for shampooing hair, space for manicures and pedicures, a skincare room, and areas for classroom instruction and lectures.
Barber and Cosmetology faculty will host a series of information sessions this semester inside the learning lab beginning Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet faculty, explore Triton’s state-of-the-art facility, and learn how they begin a career in this exciting and growing field.
Information session schedule:
- 5 at 2 p.m., Room M-150
- 19 at 5 p.m., Room M-150
- 3 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Room M-150
Whether you’re looking to launch a new career, develop your beauty and grooming skills, or start your own business, Triton College’s Cosmetology and Barber program provides the training and industry connections to help students succeed in this exciting and dynamic field.
Students’ education won’t be confined to textbooks—they’ll also work with kits, clippers, and trimmers. Additionally, students will learn about human anatomy and the nervous system, with a focus on the head, hands, and feet.
“When you step into this facility, you are walking into a real salon,” Mitchell said. “We provide the tools, guidance, and modern salon environment necessary to ensure our students are prepared to make their mark in the industry.”
Many beauty professionals own their own businesses, set their own schedules, and build their personal brands. At Triton, students will train in a modern salon environment and work with real clients—all in a cost-effective, structured program designed to get them licensed and career-ready.
