Triton College Unveils New Gym Seating Ahead of Fall Sports Season

RIVER GROVE, Ill. — New season, new seats.

Triton College’s Jorndt Athletic Complex Gymnasium, home of the Trojans, has just received an upgrade: brand-new risers for fans and spectators. The college’s staff and crews completed the new seating this month—just in time for fall competition.

“It’s come together so well, and we’re eager for the season to begin,” said Triton College President Mary-Rita Moore. “With the completion of this enhancement, our next priority is welcoming our community to watch the games. I can’t wait to have you cheering alongside us.”

This is the first major upgrade to the gymnasium’s seating since it was completed in 1981. The previous wooden bleachers were retired in favor of a more modern and accessible design.

The result—fourteen rows of bleachers on either side of the gym, coated in Triton’s signature red and emblazoned with Troy the Trojan’s iconic golden helm. Designed for convenience, the rows can be extended or retracted via remote control. The new seating accommodates more than 1,400 fans, offering a comfortable view of the game.

Several other recent improvements have been made to the gymnasium, including a refurbished and newly painted hardwood floor, new scoreboards, shot clocks, baseline padding, a scorer’s table and an upgraded sound system. The new risers are the finishing touch.

“We’re so happy with the way they turned out, and we’re excited for this renovation to be complete,” said A.J. Blahut, co-coordinator of athletic facilities and special events.

The gymnasium, home to the Trojans’ Men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams, is located in the R Building on the east side of the Triton College campus. Information about Triton College athletics is available at tritonathletics.com.
