Triton College Men’s Basketball Advances to Second Round of NJCAA Championship

HUNTCHINSON, Kan.—Triton College Men’s Basketball team is moving on to the second round of the NJCAA Division I Championship, where the team will face Cowley College today at 2:30 p.m. The game will stream live exclusively on ESPN+.

The No. 15 seeded Triton Trojans (29-5) defeated No. 18-seeded Columbia State Community College 58-55 in the opening round on March 22, despite a tough start.

“It was an ugly game, and we had some jitters early and were not ourselves in the first half,” said Trojans head coach Brian Burns. “We did what we needed to close the game,” he said, adding that “the guys fought and found a way to win despite not playing our best.” Read more about the game here.

In 2024, the Trojans finished the season 34-3, tying the most wins in team history. The team finished as national runner-up at the NJCAA Division 1 Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
