Triton College Alum Alondes Williams Signs With Washington Wizards

Former Trojan Alondes Williams was a standout player at Triton College, helping the program win the 2019 NJCAA Division II Championship and two NJCAA Region IV titles.
RIVER GROVE, Ill. — Triton College alum and Trojan basketball standout Alondes Williams is headed to the NBA (National Basketball Association) after signing a short-term contract with the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards announced in a Feb. 16 news release that Williams was called up from the NBA G League — the league’s official minor league — after signing a 10-day deal with the Washington team.
Williams played two dominant seasons with the Trojans from 2017-19, scoring 1,059 career points and helping the team win the 2018 NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship. He also led Triton to two NJCAA Region IV titles, including the Trojans’ first at the Division I level in 2019 as a sophomore.
As a sophomore, Williams averaged 17 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 50.4% from the field and 40.4% from 3-point range. He was named North Central Community College Conference Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Region IV honors. He also was recognized as the 2018-19 co-male Athlete of the Year.
“We are incredibly proud of Alondes and everything he has accomplished,” said Triton College Director of Athletics AJ Blahut. “Seeing him earn an opportunity at the NBA level is a testament to his dedication and the foundation he built here. He continues to represent Triton with excellence and we continue to wish him the best on his journey.”
No stranger to the professional arena, Williams has made NBA appearances with the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons and has played 146 games in the NBA G League for the Long Island Nets, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Mexico City Capitanes and, most recently, the Capital City Go-Go. He was named the 2023-24 NBA G League Most Improved Player.
On Sunday, he participated in his second consecutive G League Next Up Game during NBA All-Star Weekend.
