Triton College Alumni Association Lights Up the Night with Glow and Roll Bocce Ball
RIVER GROVE, Ill. — A new tradition is taking shape at Triton College as the Triton College Alumni Association trades its longtime Glow Golf event for a new glow-in-the-dark experience: Glow and Roll Bocce Ball.
The fundraiser will take place Friday, Sept. 11, at the Elmwood Park Community Recreation Center, 4 Conti Parkway, Elmwood Park. Proceeds will support the Triton College Alumni Legacy Scholarship Fund.
Following many successful years of Glow Golf, the Alumni Association is bringing the glow-in-the-dark fun to the bocce court for an evening of friendly competition, music, food and games — with all the fun and none of the mosquitoes.
As the Alumni Association ushers in this new experience, Triton College Director of Business Services Tina Lilly said the event offers alumni, friends and community members a new opportunity to connect, socialize and engage in friendly sport, with no experience necessary to play. For those who may have been hesitant about swinging a club, now they can toss a bocce ball. Attendees can also simply spectate or mingle and enjoy the party.
Lilly added that the event is not limited to former students or employees of Triton College.
“Whether you were a student, know someone who went to Triton or are a member of the community, we all have a connection to Triton in some way and have helped shape the campus into what it is today,” she said. “This event is about bringing people together, having a little fun and, most importantly, continuing to support our students while celebrating Trojans of the past, present and future.”
The evening begins with a happy hour at 6 p.m., followed by Glow and Roll at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear glow‑in‑the‑dark attire.
The single‑elimination tournament will feature four‑player teams. Each match will run 30 minutes, and the first team to reach 11 points will advance.
Registration is $50 for individual players and spectators or $200 to register a full four-person team. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Tournament prizes are $400 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third.
The event will also include complimentary sangria and margaritas from Maria’s Mexican Restaurant, a cash bar from Union Tap, dinner from Top Butcher, raffle prizes, a bullseye contest and music from DJ Geno Del Boccio.
Business and community members interested in sponsoring the event can do so by registering by Aug. 28. Sponsorship tiers include the $100 Pallino Sponsor, $200 Kiss Sponsor and $300 Court Sponsor levels.
