Triton College’s School of Continuing Education Receives LERN Certification

RIVER GROVE, Ill.—Triton College’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) is now LERN (Learning Resources Network) certified, a distinction that affirms the College’s commitment to best-practice programming and the delivery of high-quality, community-focused learning experiences.

According to Dr. Felicia L. Townsend, dean of Triton’s School of Continuing Education, “This recognition is such an honor because it reflects the purposeful work happening every day within SCE. We listen closely to our students and community, using those insights to shape programming that is meaningful and transferable to real-life environments. Our focus is on creating learning opportunities that support professional and personal growth. We are proud of the impact that our work is making in the lives of so many.”

LERN President William A. Draves also congratulated Triton, noting that “Program Certification not only represents the following of benchmarks and best practices in our field. It also indicates the desire and commitment to improving the program and serving your community further.”

To receive certification, Triton’s School of Education submitted a comprehensive set of data to LERN, demonstrated registration levels 10% higher than non-certified programs, and affirm its commitment to continuous improvement each year.

“The data represent the most important ratios in our field. A program not only has to calculate the data, but in doing so understand the critical role it plays in successful continuing education programs and decision making, as well as improving performance,” said Draves.

“These are rigorous standards. Not only do you have to measure outcomes, but follow best practices,” Draves said. “The certification is elite, but not elitist. The outcomes are learner oriented and in the best interests in serving the community.”

“Kudos to the SCE team,” said Katie Rullo, associate dean of SCE. “This certification reflects the collective effort of our Continuing Education program managers and staff.”
