Triton College to Host Executive Roundtable on Workforce Development

RIVER GROVE, Ill. — As employers across Chicagoland continue to navigate workforce shortages and shifting labor demands, Triton College is convening business leaders to share strategies for building and sustaining a skilled workforce.

Triton College’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) is inviting business leaders and executives to a roundtable discussion focused on addressing workforce challenges and opportunities.

The SCE Business & Industry Executive Roundtable is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Triton College in Room B-240 (B Building). The event welcomes employers and decision-makers to join SCE for a collaborative session featuring a panel discussion, networking opportunities and peer-to-peer dialogue centered on practical workforce solutions. A complimentary continental breakfast will be served.

Dr. Felicia Townsend, dean of the School of Continuing Education, said the roundtable is tailored to organizational leaders from business and industry, including presidents, vice presidents, business owners, C-suite executives, human resource leaders and workforce development leaders.

“Today’s workforce environment requires organizations to think strategically about attracting, developing and retaining talent,” Townsend said. “This panel discussion will explore practical solutions for employers, including workforce funding, training opportunities and strategies to retain and strengthen their workforce.”

Workforce shortages across Chicagoland underscore the essential role community colleges play in developing talent. Through industry-aligned certificates, hands-on training and customized programs for employers, Triton College builds and retains the skilled workforce our district communities need.

Triton’s School of Continuing Education offers certificate programs, noncredit and personal development programs tailored to fit varying lifestyles, schedules and careers. SCE provides education and training resources for organizations, enabling them to hire and retain workforce-ready, skilled individuals who can contribute to the organization and industry. According to Townsend, these trainings can be offered in person, virtually or in a hybrid format.

“Training teams is vital for an organization’s longevity,” she said. “We work with businesses to assess their strengths, identify areas for development and create a plan to take their team to the next level. We want to be problem-solvers for businesses.”

Panelists for the event include Jonathan Fitzpatrick, senior regional director at Employment and Employer Services, who will discuss workforce funding opportunities, as well as Laura Fisher, SCE director of corporate partnerships and academic outreach, and Lorena Gasca, director of career services, who will discuss Triton’s customized training programs and strategies to develop and sustain a skilled workforce.
