Detention and Deportation Safety Plans

In this guide, you will find everything you need to be prepared in case you are detained or put into deportation proceedings, including a plan to ensure the safety of your children, property, or other assets. This guide has been adapted from several different sources, as a way to best serve our community.

KYR Cards

These Know Your Rights cards are perfect for carrying with you or sharing with others. They can also be presented to law enforcement if needed. The cards clearly state your rights in English, including:    

• Your right to remain silent—you do not wish to answer questions, sign documents, or provide any paperwork
• Your refusal to allow entry into your home unless presented with a warrant signed by a judge or magistrate with your name on it
• Your refusal to consent to the search of your belongings

Estas tarjetas de Conozca Sus Derechos son perfectas para llevarlas consigo o compartirlas con otras personas. También se pueden presentar a las autoridades si es necesario. Las tarjetas establecen claramente sus derechos en inglés, incluyendo:

• Su derecho a permanecer en silencio: no desea responder preguntas, firmar documentos ni proporcionar ningún papeleo
• Su derecho a negar/no permitir la entrada a su domicilio a menos que se le presente con una orden firmada por un juez o magistrado con su nombre
• Su derecho a nergarse a dar su consentimiento para la revisión o busqueda de sus pertenencias
