Triton College STEM Camps Focused on Creativity, Innovation
RIVER GROVE, Ill. — Triton College is offering a series of weeklong STEM camps this summer to keep kids’ minds sharp, their hands busy and their spirits high as they dive into interactive learning that sparks creativity and drives innovation.
Funded in part by FMA’s SparkForce, the beginner‑friendly camps welcome students ages 10 to 16 to explore the wonders of science and hands-on engineering.
Led by Triton Engineering Technology faculty, campers will receive the tools and guidance needed to turn creative ideas into hands‑on projects. Participants will design and build their own inventions to take home at the end of each program.
Brand new this year is Camp Balloon for ages 10-13, in which students will learn how air can be used to generate power. From miniature cars to robotic arms, campers will engage in fun, entry‑level activities demonstrating how air can make things move in exciting ways.
“If your kid likes to tinker, likes to take things apart and put them together, here are some camps where they can actually do that and not get in trouble for it,” said Antigone Sharris, one of the camp instructors and Triton Engineering Technology faculty member.
Rather than focusing solely on theory, the camps emphasize hands‑on exploration and real‑world application, allowing campers to engage directly with STEM concepts through creative projects and interactive activities.
“These camps are all about learning by doing,” Sharris added. “Students aren’t just sitting and listening, they’re encouraged to try new ideas and create something themselves.”
All camps will be held on Triton College’s campus.
