Triton College Celebrates Black History Month

Join us as we celebrate and recognize the contributions African-Americans have made to American history and culture by featuring social, educational and artistic events for the campus and community during the month of February.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 5

Ayodele Drum and Dance 

B Building, Student Cafeteria

11:00 - 11:45 a.m.

 

Kick off Black History Month by viewing an African dance and drum performance meant to educate and motivate. Ayodele Drum and Dance is a diverse sister-circle of performing artists committed to studying and performing drum and dance as a healing element. Triton welcomes the Chicago-based group to share their stories through artistic performance.

 

 

Monday, Feb. 10

TED TALKS at TRITON: In Honor of Black History Month

A Building, Room A-102, Library Silent Study Room

12:00 p.m. 

 

Watch and discuss several TED Talks given by African-American visual artists, musicians and leaders on black culture, history, and the black experience in the United States, hosted by Dubravka Juraga, Ph.D., faculty librarian. Refreshments will be served.

Black History Month Luncheon

Enjoy the artistic dance stylings of the Maywood Fine Arts youth ensemble. Maywood Fine Arts Association is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality arts instruction, including dance, music, drama, tumbling, and karate to the children of Maywood and surrounding communities.
