The mission of the Center for Access and Accommodative Services CAAS, is to provide campus accessibility and accommodations that foster the development of students' abilities, preparing them to work to their fullest potential to obtain their academic and career goals.

Welcome to the Center for Access and Accommodative Services (CAAS) at Triton College. CAAS provides a variety of services that supports student academic and career goals such as note taking, interpreting services and testing accommodations as well as study tools for all Triton College registered students and the Employment Skills and Employee Development program. This website provides an explanation of the services and how to apply for them. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Free Otter license for All Triton College registered students
All registered Triton College students may request a license for the Otter software that records lectures and provides a transcript. Click HERE for a demonstration of the software. Students interested in obtaining a free license may request a license by filling out the Otter forms and submitting them to CAAS at caas@triton.edu or in Room A-105. Otter licenses must be renewed each semester by submitting the Otter forms.

Free Kurzweil Reading software for all Triton College students and Staff
Kurzweil is a text-to-speech software that allows you to have various materials read out loud to you. It doesn’t matter whether the material is online or in print, it can be made accessible. Triton has scanning stations located in the ETRC and the Library to convert printed materials so it can be read aloud.

Interested in using Kurzweil? Guess what if you are an established Triton College student or staff member with a triton.edu email account, you already have access to the Kurzweil – no sign up with the CAAS required.

To start using Kurzweil today just follow these four easy steps:

  1. Click the button below
  2. Choose the Sign in with Microsoft option
  3. Enter your Triton College credentials – your email, password, and multifactor code (if prompted)
  4. Allow the app permissions if prompted

 You are now in! You’ll get a Welcome to Kurzweil email message that contains additional links and getting started guides., and instruction to get the Read the Web web browser extension.

Please Note: In order to use Kurzweil as an accommodation for your class exams, you must apply with the CAAS and be approved for accommodations. Returning students please go to the Request for Services form section of this website to activate your accommodations for the semester that you want to use Kurzweil for your exams.

Academic Accommodations
Students requesting accommodations need to self-identify with CAAS and provide appropriate documentation of their disability. The process of activating accommodations may take up to two weeks after submitting the required documentation.

SEED provides students with in-person instruction and work experiences that are designed to enhance employability skills, preparing them for independent employment.

Upon successful completion of all three required parts, students will receive the SEED Certificate through the Center for Access and Accommodative Services.

Contact Information

Staff are available to answer questions pertaining to accommodations and the S.E.E.D. program.

Students interested in requesting accommodations must fill out a Confidential Data form and submit it with documentation of their disability.

Returning students must submit a Request for Services form to activate their accommodations for the upcoming semester.

All paperwork and forms may be submitted via e-mail, CAAS Mailbox outside of A-105, the CAAS office in A-105 or Fax (708) 456-0991.
