Community Concert Band

Triton College’s Music Department is excited to present their Community Concert Band for the 2025-2026 academic year. Community members and high school students with windwood, brass or percussion experience are welcome to join the ensemble. Participation is free. Those under 18 must provide a permission slip from a parent or guardian.

The band will meet Mondays from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., beginning Monday, Sept. 8, in the J Building, Room J-205. Advance registration is required to schedule an audition. Participants should have a minimum of high school band experience or an equivalent level of recent musical training.

Salvatore Siriano, Triton’s lead music instructor and band director, encourages musicians with high school or college band to participate.

“This is a great opportunity for non-music majors who participated in band in high school to play in an ensemble,” Siriano said. “This year, we are also opening the community band to high school students who may not have a band at their school or whose schedules conflict with their local high school band.” Homeschooled students are welcome to participate.

Siriano added that creating music teaches teamwork and collaboration toward a share goal—a  successful performance.

Participants in the Community Concert Band will deepen their appreciation of music as an art form and broaden their understanding through studying and performing different styles.

“Participating in an ensemble is a wonderful way to make friends and build relationships with people who have a common interest,” said Siriano. “Those interested have the opportunity to participate in rewarding concerts and perform music from a variety of styles and cultures.”

The band will conclude the fall semester with a performance in December and will also perform at Triton College’s Commencement Ceremony in May.
