Flu Shot Clinic

Triton College will host its annual flu shot clinic on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Center Cafeteria (B Building). Vaccines will be provided by Jewel-Osco pharmacies, with pharmacy representatives administering the shots. According to Jewel-Osco, flu vaccines are free for those with PPO insurance, while a small fee applies for those with HMO plans or individuals who are uninsured.

Laura Hill, R.N., Triton College’s director of Health Services, said the flu shots are available to anyone in the Triton community. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointments necessary.

Hill noted that the clinic is part of Triton’s efforts to promote a healthy environment on campus and in our community. According to the CDC, receiving a flu shot is the most effective way to protect yourself and others from the flu. While it is still possible to contract the flu after vaccination, symptoms are typically milder.

“When you protect yourself, you are also protecting members of the community who cannot get vaccinated, like those who may be too young,” said Hill. “It’s also important to stay home if you are sick to stop the spread of germs and viruses.”

Other vaccines available at this clinic include the COVID-19, shingles and pneumonia vaccines.
