Triton College’s Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Service Technician Certificate gives you hands-on training to safely service and diagnose EV and hybrid systems using the latest tools and equipment.
In just 13 credit hours, you’ll gain industry-recognized skills and knowledge aligned with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)L3 standards and employer expectations. Whether you're just starting your automotive career or looking to upskill, this certificate can help you get ahead.
What You'll Learn
Through expert instruction and lab-based experience, you’ll learn how to:
- Work safely with high-voltage hybrid and electric vehicle systems
- Use advanced diagnostic tools (scan tools, oscilloscopes, megohm meters)
- Evaluate EV/hybrid malfunctions using industry-standard procedures
- Prepare professional-grade repair documentation
Courses
The program includes three required courses:
- AUT 129 – Automotive Electricity and Electronics II (3 credits)
- AUT 226 – Engine Performance & Diagnosis (5 credits)
- AUT 230 – Computerized Engine Controls (5 credits)

Program Format
This program is delivered in-person on campus. Day and evening options may be available. Some students may complete the certificate in as little as one semester, depending on course availability and prerequisites.
